Mike Silver is a 1972 honors graduate of Temple University and 1975 graduate of Rutgers Law School who has been practicing disability and negligence law for over 30 years. He served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Michael Patrick King, an Appellate Division Judge in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Following his association with a labor and negligence law firm in South Jersey, Mr. Silver and his wife founded Silver & Silver in 1981. After serving as the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) Regional Representative for the Third Circuit, as well as National Secretary and Treasurer, in 1990 Mike was elected President of the 3500 member group. In addition to lecturing on disability law to the medical, legal, and insurance communities, Mike has testified before the House of Representatives' Social Security Subcommittee advocating for ways to make the disability system more equitable. Mr. Silver founded and chaired the Philadelphia Bar Association's Disability Law Committee from its inception in 1995 through 2004. After volunteering for the Arthritis Foundation and serving as its first Advocacy Chair, Mr. Silver was elected Chairman of the Arthritis Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania's Board of Directors and served from 2002 - 2005. He currently serves as its immediate Past Chair, Advocacy Chair, and co-Chair of the Jingle Bell Run. Mr. Silver is Vice Chair of the Ardmore Initiative Committee and Chair of its Streetscape Committee. He was selected as Main Line Today Magazine's Person of the Year (2004) and currently serves as President of the Ardmore Rotary Club. Mr. Silver was recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as the only Super Lawyer in the disability field in both 2005 and 2006. Cindy Silver, Esquire
Ms. Silver is a cum laude graduate of George Washington University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology. She received her Juris Doctorate from The Villanova School of Law. Cynthia Silver co-founded the firm with her husband in 1981. She served an internship with the Honorable Magistrate Judge Peter Scuderi of the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania. From 1980-1986 Ms. Silver was employed as Associate General Counsel for the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company. For the past twenty years she has been representing injured parties in personal injury claims. Ms. Silver was named Volunteer of the Year by Friends' Central School in 2004, and assists with Annual Fundraising for both Friends' Central School in Wynnewood, PA and Amherst College in Western Massachusetts. She was the Volunteer Coordinator for the International Maccabi Games that were held in Philadelphia in 2003. She is a past member of the Women's Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation and was an active member of the Young Women's Division. The Silvers have three sons. Lawrence J. Weinstein, Esquire
Lawrence Weinstein has been with Silver & Silver since 2001. He practices in the fields of Social Security Disability, Workers' Compensation and Long-Term Disability. Prior to joining Silver & Silver, he worked for the Social Security Administration and both the Philadelphia and Bucks County District Attorneys Offices. Mr. Weinstein's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Middle East History from the Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctorate from the Villanova University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in the Pennsylvania state courts, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and throughout the country in Social Security cases. In 2005 Mr. Weinstein was named a Rising Star Super Lawyer by Law and Politics and the publishers of Philadelphia Magazine. Mr. Weinstein also serves as a lecturer for Continuing Legal Education programs, including most recently at the national convention for the National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives. In 2000, he was appointed to the Board of Auditors for Northampton Township, Pennsylvania. Mr. Weinstein was elected to a two-year term in 2001 and then re-elected to a six-year term in 2003. Since 2002, he has served as the campaign manager for a suburban Philadelphia member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Joseph Schwartz, Esquire
Joseph Schwartz has been a member of the Pennsylvania Bar since 2001. He practices in the fields of Personal Injury, Employment, Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income. Prior to joining Silver and Silver, he worked for firms in California and Philadelphia, helping individuals who have been injured due to the negligence of others or have been subjected to unlawful discrimination by their employers. Mr. Schwartz has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in History where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society and a Juris Doctorate from the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu California where was awarded an academic scholarship. He has served as an arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, written for Philadelphia Lawyer Magazine, and had his work featured in a cover story in the Legal Intelligencer when his advocacy led to a Federal Judge invalidating a major oil company's mandatory employee arbitration policy. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania state courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and throughout the country in Social Security cases. He has successfully advocated for his clients in jury and bench trials, arbitration matters, and also before administrative agencies including the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, and the Social Security Administration. Mr. Schwartz and his wife, who is a physician specializing in physical rehabilitation medicine, have one son. |
